Manipulation of Time & Season:

An Interactive Cinematic Experiments with Machine Learning

Cinemorpheque Art Series

XR Opening Video for Film Festival Ceremony, Interactive Installation Art Tour

2022 / Hong Kong (Opening Video); Taiwan, Beijing & Shenzhen (Art Tour)

"Cinemorpheque" is an immersive interactive installation inspired by classic Hong Kong cinema. The installation uses machine learning algorithms to recreate the four seasons from classic Hong Kong cinema, paying homage to the rich heritage of the city's film industry.

Opening Video - XR Content Production

"Cinemorpheque" has been chosen to feature in the promotional video for the 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival. The installation's seamless depiction of the changing seasons through immersive scenes provides a striking parallel to the evolving history of Hong Kong's film industry.

By manipulating particles, the installation creates immersive scenes that depict the changing seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, allowing viewers to experience the seamless transitions between these landscapes. The audience can use their hands to control the flow of time and manipulate the seasons, putting them in the mindset of film directors.

This work also showcases the advances in virtual production that allow us to manipulate scenes with greater precision. The result is a multisensory experience that merges art and cinema into a single, captivating work, inviting viewers to explore the beauty and nostalgia of Hong Kong's cinematic heritage in a new and exciting way.
